On Friday 12 January Firefighters from Ashfield, Blidworth and Mansfield responded to a house fire in Sutton in Ashfield.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘On arrival a fire could be seen in the kitchen. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet extinguished the fire.
‘Despite the terrible situation the occupier was in they still sent us very kind words and the pictures to warn others about the risks tumble dryers can pose.
‘The fire was in the tumble drier, we do not know why the fire started, but below are some tumble drier safety tips.
‘Always clean the lint filter before every use.
‘Never have the drier on when asleep or away from the property.
‘Turn off when not in use.
‘Register your appliance.
‘Ensure you have at least one working smoke alarm under 10 years old on each level of your home.
‘You can also see smoke damage in the pictures, this is why we say close doors in unoccupied rooms if you can. Smoke kills.’
