A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in force across Nottinghamshire today, Thursday 27 August, from 5am until 10pm.
The Met Office said a broad band of thunderstorms and heavy rain will move north across England and Wales, potentially becoming slow-moving during the afternoon and evening.
Some areas could receive 20mm to 30mm of rain within an hour, while totals of 30mm to 40mm are expected fairly widely. Up to 50mm could fall over 12 hours in some places.
There is also a small chance of more than 50mm falling within three hours and more than 75mm over 12 hours, particularly over east-facing higher ground.
Lightning and hail measuring between 1cm and 2cm are also possible.
