West Bridgford businesswoman harnesses global network help to Rushcliffe’s Castle Healthcare Practice

West Bridgford businesswoman Karen Lee-Thompson, Managing Director of Nottingham based company Beauty Consociare Ltd. has used her global networks to respond to the shortage in supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) available to the local health workers.

Karen told The Wire:

“I am originally from Taiwan but have lived in the UK for over 22 years, and this is a time that I want to proactively do something for my community”

“After some discussion with my sister (Kelly Lee) and her husband (Hans Lin) back in Taiwan, we decided to use our own network to source some masks and donate to our NHS heroes.

“It’s a small gesture of appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and staff for their continuous hard work in caring for the community at this challenging time.”

Taiwan as a country has been able to implement effective actions to contain the virus outbreak, and masks have been made available to all residents. While WHO advice is that masks are not essential for day to day use, Karen believes they are vitally important for our healthcare workers.

They have sourced 9,000 masks from overseas and will donate them all to the frontline staff in the Rushcliffe area in two deliveries, the first one arriving this week.

The distribution will be coordinated by the Castle Healthcare Practice.
