West Bridgford man jailed after violent nightclub attack

Two offenders have been jailed for their roles in an unprovoked and violent attack on a man outside a nightclub.
The victim, aged in his 20s, suffered serious head injuries when he was punched and stamped on by a group in St James’s Street, Nottingham, on 5 May 2025.

Jayden Gunter, Kiarne McLeary, Alfie Seagrave, and Jaden Walters were identified as the attackers after detectives analysed CCTV footage and conducted other enquiries.

Walters was captured on footage handing a knife to Seagrave after they left the club around 4 a.m., although the weapon was not used in the ensuing assault.

All four appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (16 January) after pleading guilty to committing grievous bodily harm without intent.

Twenty-one-year-old Seagrave, of Rugby Road, West Bridgford, also admitted possession of a knife in a public place and was sentenced to two years and three months’ imprisonment.

McLeary, aged 24, of Beechdale Road, Nottingham, and Walters, aged 22, of Moorfield Court, Stapleford, will be sentenced at a later date.

Walters has also pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place.

Investigations revealed the four men had been involved in an earlier altercation with the victim inside the nightclub before they set upon him in the street.

Gunter was seen to grab the victim before throwing punches at him while Seagrave pulled him to the ground.

McLeary climbed on top of him and Walters kicked him before Walters and Gunter were both seen stamping on his head.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he needed stitches for a cut to his head.

Detective Constable Michael Love, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We were determined to get justice for the victim of this extremely unpleasant and unprovoked attack.

“Violent behaviour like this has no place in our night-time economy and will always be met with a robust response.

“The knife which was seen being brandished by members of the group was not used in the assault.

“However, carrying a weapon like this around is a very serious offence.

“A detailed and thorough investigation by detectives, with the support of the nightclub staff, has allowed us to bring these four men to justice.”
