West Bridgford sinkhole repair scheduled for completion by Wednesday – road remains open

Two-way temporary traffic lights have been installed on Musters Road in West Bridgford after a sinkhole was reported near the cricket ground end of the road.

The restriction is in place between the junction with Bridge Grove and the junction with Rushworth Avenue while work is carried out to repair a carriageway defect.

Images taken today show work well underway at the site.

The works are being carried by Severn Trent Water, and began at 12.59pm on Thursday, June 4. They are currently scheduled to remain in place until 4pm on Wednesday, June 10.

According to the temporary signals bulletin, two-way signals are operating 24 hours a day, with traffic control also in use on Rushworth Avenue.

The restriction follows a report of a sinkhole on Musters Road earlier this week. Councillor Penny Gowland said the defect was near the cricket ground end of the road and that Severn Trent was in charge of the response.

She said Via East Midlands had warned there was a risk the whole road may have to be closed because of the position of the hole.

The latest restriction means drivers using Musters Road, Bridge Grove and Rushworth Avenue should allow extra time while the repair work continues.
