Woman taken to hospital after Nottinghamshire street assault

Police have charged a suspect after a woman was reportedly attacked in the street.

Officers were called to Day Street, Warsop, at around 9.35pm on Monday (4 July), following reports of an assault.

A woman had to be taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining facial injuries during the incident.

Shaun Cook has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, harassment and breaching a restraining order.

Cook, 41, of Central Drive, Mansfield, has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3 August 2022.

Detective Constable Jayne Milne, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a violent assault that thankfully didn’t result in the victim sustaining more serious injuries.
“The force strongly condemns all forms of violence and will always respond to each and every report we receive of this nature, so that we can keep our communities safe.”
