Nottinghamshire man six times over legal alcohol limit for driving

A man has been arrested for failing to provide a specimen of breath to police officers.

Police received reports of a car being driven erratically on the A1 near Grantham yesterday (30 June) just before 12pm.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit located the car at Gonerby Moor Services and arrested a 38-year-old man for failing to provide a roadside breath test. He remains in police custody.

The man was taken to custody where he later provided readings of 209 and 203 – nearly six times over the legal alcohol limit. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

A 38-year-old man from Barnby, Newark has been charged with failing to cooperate with a preliminary breath test and driving a motor vehicle whilst over the legal alcohol limit.
