Police dismantled the cannabis plants after they were found growing in a loft.
• Police were called to a house on Southfield Road, Radford, where they discovered remnants of a cannabis grow operation across several rooms.
• Further investigation led them to the loft of the property, where they found 90 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.
• The force’s cannabis dismantling team removed all the plants and growing equipment, and also found that the electricity had been bypassed to power the grow operation.
• PC James Lawrence emphasized the risks and criminal links associated with such cannabis grows, urging the community to report any information on drug production.
Officers were called to a house in Southfield Road, Radford, Nottingham following reports drugs were being produced there.
After attending the address at around 10.15 am on Thursday (31 August), response officers quickly discovered remnants of a cannabis grow across several rooms.
Further searches of the property eventually led police to the loft, where they found 90 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.
The force’s cannabis dismantling team then removed all the plants from the address, where the electricity was also found to have been bypassed to power the grow.
All the growing equipment found in the house was also taken out of commission by attending officers.
PC James Lawrence, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Cannabis grows like the one shut down in this incident are a blight on society and bring nothing but trouble to communities.
“As well as having links to wider criminality, this practice also often involves vulnerable people being exploited for other people’s gain, with them tending to the grows while living in horrible conditions.
“On top of that, the illegal modifications made to the electrics to help power these grows bring a very real fire risk to neighbouring properties.
“We really don’t want to see these household cannabis farms anywhere near our communities, so we will always respond to any reports we receive of drug activity to ensure they are shut down as soon as possible.
“It is important that anyone who has any information about drug production in their area gets in touch with us so that we can act straight away.”
