Jack was attacked and robbed around Sussex Street Skate Park, near Nottingham Contemporary, at around 6:50 pm on Tuesday (5 December).
He sustained significant head injuries and was taken to hospital. He died on Thursday (7 December) at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre despite the best efforts of hospital staff.
Detectives previously charged 18-year-old Kai Howitt, with murder and robbery.
Howitt, of Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (8 December) and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 11 December.
In a further development, officers arrested a 13-year-old boy on Friday night (8 December 2023) on suspicion of murder and robbery. He has been charged with both offences and is appearing in a youth court, also on Monday 11 December. The boy cannot be named due to his age.
A 16-year-old girl, who also cannot be named due to her age, was arrested on Saturday (9 December) in connection with the incident and has been charged with robbery. She will appear at youth court on the same date.
Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, who is leading the investigation, said: “Jack’s family have requested privacy at this extremely distressing time and our thoughts remain with them as they continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who feels they may have information that could assist our ongoing investigation, and who hasn’t already come forward. Any information, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it may seem, could prove to be crucial to our inquiries.”
Five other teenagers previously arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
These were three boys aged 17, 13 and 12, and two girls aged 15 and 14.
