A boy suffered injuries to his abdomen when he was stabbed in Rise Park in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Skye Road in Rise Park at around 3.15am to reports that 13-year-old had been stabbed following an altercation.
The boy was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
Officers acted quickly to arrest a 16-year-old boy near the scene in connection with the incident, he remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Ian Holmes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Knife crime has no place on our streets and I can imagine the local community are concerned to hear reports of this nature.
“However, this was an isolated incident where all parties were known to one another and there is no wider risk to the public.
“An altercation in Skye Road is believed to have been linked to the stabbing and I’d now appeal for anyone with any information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“While the boy looks as though he will make a full recovery, any stabbing is very serious and we will investigate all reports thoroughly.”
If you have any information that could aid officers in their investigation into the incident, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 77 of 20 July 2020.
