A suspect has appeared in court after a police raid uncovered hundreds of cannabis plants.
The city west neighbourhood policing team carried out the pre-planned warrant, which resulted in the discovery of more than 200 cannabis plants.
Officers attended Barlock Road, Basford, after receiving intelligence about potential drug activity inside the house.
Electricity was also found to have been bypassed during the house raid, which happened at around 8am on Monday (12 June).
Ledjan Ruci, 22, of Barlock Road, Basford, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (13 June), having been charged with production of cannabis.
He was remanded in custody following that appearance and will attend Nottingham Crown Court on 11 July 2023.
PC Sam Yallop, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We treat all reports we receive of cannabis production seriously, because – put simply – it is a very serious crime that brings nothing but trouble to communities.
“It often has links to wider criminality, relies on the exploitation of vulnerable people, and also provides a very real fire risk to neighbouring properties, due to electricity being dangerously bypassed.
“It isn’t a victimless crime, so we’d ask that people continue to report any information they have relating to potential cannabis grows in their area, so that we can investigate these reports properly.”
