£6 million to upgrade Broxtowe’s water network

Severn Trent is investing around £6m to upgrade the water network in Broxtowe, replacing aging water pipes with new infrastructure to reduce the risk of leaks and bursts and ensure a reliable supply for the future.

The improvement works will begin on Monday 3 November 2025, with Severn Trent carrying out the upgrades in phases to minimise disruption.

The first two phases of work will take place on Sherborne Road, from the junction of Broxtowe Lane to Number 37, and on Seaton Crescent, from 51A to the junction of Rosslyn Drive. Both locations will be subject to road closures during the works.

Access to homes, businesses and emergency services will be maintained, although there may be short-term restrictions when work is taking place directly outside properties. Residents will be notified in advance if this is necessary.

To help locals learn more about the project, Severn Trent is hosting a community drop-in event. The event will take place on Tuesday 21 October 2025, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, at the Sheila Russell Community Centre, St Martin’s Road, Bilborough, Nottingham NG8 3AR.

No appointment is necessary, and attendees are welcome to drop in at any time during the event.

Lydia Coles, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “We’re eager to get going to upgrade the water networks in Broxtowe.

“We appreciate that the disruption will cause issues for some people but want to reassure everyone that we’re doing all we can to minimise this. We’d love to hear from the local community to help them prepare for the disruption, or chat through any concerns they may have.

“These works are necessary to help future proof the Broxtowe’s water supply, reducing leaks and minimising water supply interruptions. We are not expecting any disruptions to water supply while works are taking place, but if they are necessary, affected residents will receive advance notice with details of the date, earliest start time and latest end time.”
