Miriam Court is a sheltered home for elderly people in Musters Road, many of whom remember VE Day but can’t leave the home.
A spokesperson said:
‘Thank you for all the wonderful donations ( the jigsaw and puzzle books appealed for here ) that you have given to us today!
‘It has made a huge difference to our lockdown lives!
‘As we did feel forgotten! We are not a care home! We are older folks, who live within a building independently.
‘We all have our own studio flats – 24 of them, we thank you all for your kindness to us!
‘Could we please ask one more thing of you? As we are all elderly and dare not come out right now! V.E day is coming soon! Many of us remember that day! Many of us were there!
Could we please ask for anyone to sing to us in our garden outside? Do you have a speaker or microphone that we could hear please. We would love this if so! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
