Officers have executed a second warrant this month and seized another 141 cannabis grows in West Bridgford as part of a new operation to tackle drug crime in the area.
The grows were found across three bedrooms in a semi-detached house on Dale Close this morning.
This is the second warrant this month where drugs have been recovered, and the third since April in West Bridgford.
On 5th May officers executed a warrant at a property on Malvern Road, part of the new drugs intelligence and enforcement operation – Operation Alaska – which is being undertaken locally to deal with drugs criminality. They recovered drugs and cash.
Nottinghamshire Police officers also executed a drugs warrant on Friday 3 April 2020 on Trent Boulevard and made five arrests.
Police Sergeant Sarah Merrall led today’s investigation. She said: “We are pleased with today’s proactive investigation which is a continuation of Operation Alaska.
“The work is a drugs intelligence-led and enforcement operation being undertaken locally to deal with drugs and criminality in the area.
“Today’s warrant was the second we’ve done as part of this new operation which was launched at the end of last month to tackle drug-related crime in the area.
“We also found that the electricity had had been by-passed at the premises, this can put not only the offenders lives at risk with illegal and unsafe tampering of the electricity supply, but also their neighbours.
“The premises were made safe by Western Power before officers could dismantle and remove the plants.
“Drugs can have a devastating impact on people’s lives and on the community as a whole.
“I’d like to reassure them that we are determined to do all we can to disrupt this type of activity and to keep our communities safe and, as today’s warrant demonstrates, that we won’t hesitate to take robust action to target and disrupt suspected drug-related criminality in our neighbourhoods.
“We are fully committed to working with our local communities to act on intelligence and it can be that information provided to us by local people, about suspicious activity in their areas, that can be the final piece in the puzzle leading to action being taken.
“Information provided to us by local communities is vital so if you see anything suspicious in your area please report it to us by calling Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively you can provide information to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”
Hermes Tuda, 29, of Dale Close was found at the house and has been arrested and charged with production of cannabis and illegally entering the UK.
Tuda has been remanded into custody and will be at court Thursday (14 May 2020).
