The Old Post Office in Edwalton that was the subject of a community-led campaign to protect it from demolition, now has plans for a major refurbishment.
Plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council are for:
• Alterations including repair/replacement window and door joinery; roofing repairs; alterations to window openings; removal of non-traditional features e.g. 20th Century chimneys and rainwater goods, render, bow window, removal of non-original partition walls.

- Renovation, extension and conversion of existing outbuilding to form ancillary accommodation extension.
Almost exactly one year ago, over August Bank Holiday Weekend 2019 plans were submitted to demolish the property and build a new ‘Grand Designs’ style home, heartbroken residents contacted West Bridgford Wire and some weeks later Rushcliffe Borough Council refused the application.
The Old Post Office is in The Edwalton Conservation Area, which was designated in 2005, certainly includes the old heart of the village, the grade 2 listed Church and surrounding area.
