A group of masked men smashed open a door with bats, demanded money and threatened residents, before stealing their car in a terrifying incident.
Officers are now appealing for information and witnesses following the aggravated burglary.
Detective Constable Olivia West is leading the investigation. She said: “This must have been a very frightening experience for those involved.
“Officers were called at around 9.30pm on Saturday 14 November following the report of an aggravated burglary at a home in Elm Tree Avenue in Mansfield.
“We were swiftly on the scene, but the men had left. Thankfully no one was injured, but residents are still clearly distressed following the incident.
“It was reported that there were six men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas and they threatened occupants with bats and knives.
“Officers will be providing ongoing support for the family as a team of detectives work tirelessly to trace those responsible.
“We are following up a number of lines of enquiry to get these men in custody but I would appeal for anyone who has information or CCTV or dash-cam footage of anything suspicious in the area to come forward as soon as possible.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 740 of 14 November 2020.”
