British Transport Police tweeted about the incident.
A spokesperson for Derby and Nottinghamshire Hot Air Balloon Club told The Wire:
‘Due to fading light the experienced pilot chose to land in a small private car park behind the shops in Sutton-in-Ashfield.’
‘No one was injured and balloon stayed upright.’
British Transport Police officers helped to steady the balloon after the landing.
