Appeal after teenager dies in Nottinghamshire collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager died following a road traffic collision near Worksop.

Emergency services were called to Retford Road at around 1.10pm on Monday 27 October after a collision involving a motorcycle and a van at the junction with Shrewsbury Road.

A 17-year-old who was riding the motorcycle was airlifted from the scene and taken to hospital.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead on Friday 31 October.

An investigation into what happened is continuing and officers are appealing for any additional witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“A teenager has tragically lost his life following this incident and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“The victim’s relatives continue to be supported by our specially trained officers.

“As the investigation progresses, we would ask anyone with additional information to come forward – particularly those with dashcam footage of the scene.”
