Two arrests after separate incidents in Bingham

Rushcliffe Response and Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing officers made two arrests in Bingham on Friday.

Police said the first arrest was in relation to a road traffic collision on Chapel Lane where a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and taking a motor vehicle without consent. He remains in custody while enquiries are conducted.

Later the same day in Bingham A 50-year-old man was arrested in relation to breaching the conditions of a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO). He also remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.

A Domestic Violence Protection Order is aimed at perpetrators who present an on-going risk of violence to the victim with the objective of securing a coordinated approach across agencies for the protection of victims and the management of perpetrators.

They form part of the strategy to address violence against women and girls but can also be used where the perpetrator is a women and the survivor a man or in same sex relationships where domestic violence is an issue.
