A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Mansfield.
Police were called to Market Place at 4.47pm yesterday (Wednesday) after the victim, a man in his thirties, was repeatedly kicked and punched in the street.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a very serious condition.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a brutal and sustained assault that left a man in hospital with very serious injuries.
“As our investigation into what happens continues, we’d like to hear from any additional witnesses to this incident who haven’t already spoken to us.”
