Nottinghamshire weather for Sunday 18 January

Sunday January 18 is set to be a damp, grey and rather murky day across Nottinghamshire, with mist and patchy light rain at times and little change in temperatures through the day.

While rainfall amounts look light, the unsettled feel will persist from early morning through to evening.

Early morning
The day will start dull and misty, with areas of mist or low cloud widespread during the early hours. There is a moderate to high chance of light rain or drizzle around dawn, particularly between 6am and 9am. Temperatures will sit around 4°C to 6°C, feeling chilly in a light east to east-north-easterly breeze of around 5 mph. Visibility may be reduced at times, especially on higher ground and exposed roads.

Midday
Through late morning into midday, mist should gradually lift, but skies will remain overcast. The risk of patchy light rain continues, with probabilities around 40 to 50 per cent at times. Temperatures will slowly rise to around 7°C to 8°C. Winds will remain light, veering more easterly, helping to maintain the cool and rather raw feel.

Afternoon
The afternoon will stay largely cloudy, with occasional light rain or drizzle possible, particularly from midday through mid-afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of around 9°C, making it the mildest part of the day, though it will still feel cool under persistent cloud. Winds will be light from the east-south-east at around 4 to 5 mph, with gusts generally no higher than 10 mph.

Evening
During the evening, cloud will continue to dominate, with further patchy drizzle possible at times, though rainfall amounts will remain light. Temperatures will slowly dip from around 9°C early in the evening to nearer 7°C by late evening. Winds will ease further, remaining light from the east-south-east, bringing a calm but damp and rather gloomy end to the day.
