Two arrests after reported spiking incident in Nottinghamshire

Police have made two arrests after issuing a CCTV appeal as part of an investigation into a reported spiking.

Inquiries are ongoing into the incident which happened in Retford during the early hours of Sunday 22 February 2026.

As part of their investigative work, officers issued CCTV images of two men they wanted to trace in connection with the incident.

Two men, aged 24 and 28, were arrested earlier today (Monday 2 March) on suspicion of causing or administering a poison/noxious thing with intent to injure/aggrieve/annoy.

Detective Inspector Jackie Price, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Spiking is a malicious crime which can have a significant, traumatic impact on victims and their feelings of safety.

“We take reports seriously and continue to work proactively within the night-time economy to safeguard victims from harm. 

“I’d like to thank everyone who shared our appeal for information as our inquiries continue into this incident.”
