Man charged after drugs, cash and pills seized following Nottingham car stop

A 21-year-old man has been charged with drug offences after police seized cocaine, cannabis, cash and suspected pills following a vehicle stop in Nottingham.

Azeez Belewu, of Alfreton Road, Radford, has been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs cocaine and MDMA, and the Class B drug cannabis. He is also charged with criminal damage, possession of criminal property and using a vehicle without headlights lit.

Police said officers on patrol in the early hours of Wednesday, 25 March, noticed a car being driven without its headlights on and followed it until it stopped on Nuthall Road. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cans of nitrous oxide, bags of cannabis and a bag of cocaine, along with two mobile phones.

Further searches were then carried out at addresses on Alfreton Road in Radford and Mansfield Road in Mapperley. Officers said these searches resulted in the seizure of additional cannabis, nitrous oxide canisters, suspected cocaine, large amounts of cash and a quantity of unmarked boxes of pills.

Belewu was remanded in custody and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 26 March. He was due to appear in court again on 27 March.
