Halifax West Bridgford to close in June as date confirmed

The Halifax branch in West Bridgford is set to close later this year as part of a wider reduction in high street banking by Lloyds Banking Group.

The West Bridgford branch will close on 16 June 2026.

The closure forms part of a wider plan that will see 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland branches shut between May 2026 and March 2027.

The announcement follows an earlier round of closures already under way, with a further 49 branches scheduled to shut by October. Once all confirmed closures are completed, the group said it will retain 610 branches across the UK.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said the changes reflect how customers are increasingly choosing to manage their finances. The bank said more than 21 million customers now use its mobile apps as their primary way to bank.

They said customers are using a wider range of options and want flexibility in how they access services, with digital banking continuing to grow.

The closures are part of a broader shift across the banking sector, with fewer people using physical branches and more services being carried out online or via mobile apps.

Earlier this month, Santander UK announced plans to close a further 44 branches nationwide, putting 291 jobs at risk. Meanwhile, Nationwide Building Society said it intends to keep all 696 of its branches open until at least 2030.

Banking hubs, where multiple banks share facilities, have begun to replace some closed branches in parts of the country, although the rollout of these sites has been slower than the pace of branch closures.
