Youth disorder crackdown in West Bridgford town centre sees arrests and dispersal notices

Police have increased patrols in West Bridgford town centre in response to ongoing concerns about antisocial behaviour, with officers using dispersal powers and other measures to prevent disorder.

Neighbourhood policing teams have been targeting key locations and times in recent weeks, including seizing alcohol from young people and issuing dispersal notices. In some cases, officers have also taken youths home to their parents.

Over recent weekends, dispersal powers have been used on a number of occasions to address incidents and reduce further disruption. Additional support has been provided by volunteer Special Constables, who assisted with patrols during busy periods.

The West Bridgford neighbourhood policing team said it continues to work with partners including youth services and the council to tackle antisocial behaviour, identify repeat offenders and take action where necessary. While early intervention remains part of the approach, officers said persistent offending will increasingly be dealt with through enforcement, including arrests and progression through the criminal justice system.
