Rushcliffe Borough Council has warned residents and businesses to be cautious after a fake email using council branding was reported.
A spokesperson said:
‘It has been identified that an individual with an Outlook domain email address unrelated to Rushcliffe Borough Council is asking for information verification on a license.
‘Anyone who receives an email in line with the image below is asked to check and confirm the email is not legitimate and to not click on any links.

‘The individual is acting independently from any of the Council’s systems even though they use the Council logo, display name on the email address and the name they sign-off their emails with. Cursory checks of the email will show it is not legitimate, using the Outlook domain.
‘If anyone receives such an email please check the sender’s email address to ensure that it matches the Council’s rushcliffe.gov.uk domain.
‘In line with the cyber advice on the home page of this website, please use caution in opening any external emails, and report and block suspect senders.’
