Nottingham rooftop bar approved for The Island Quarter

Conditional planning approval has been granted for an 85-cover rooftop terrace at The Island Quarter in Nottingham.

The venue will be located above Binks Yard and Cleaver and Wake at 1 The Island Quarter, forming part of the wider 36-acre development being brought forward by Conygar.

Nottingham City Council has approved plans to use the rooftop space as a bar and terrace, with the venue to be operated by Rhubarb Hospitality, which also runs the other venues in the building.

Chris Ware, managing director at Conygar, said the approval allowed the developer to make use of the rooftop area, adding that only limited construction work was required before the venue could open following its fit-out.

He said the company hoped to open the terrace in time for the summer season.

Plans for the venue include festoon lighting, a pergola, lounge seating and stool seating. The operating licence allows the venue to open from 10am until 10pm.

Acoustic screening will also be installed as part of the fit-out to reduce noise impact on neighbouring buildings.
