Tracker helps police recover stolen motorbike within 22 minutes

A stolen motorbike was recovered soon after it was reported missing.

Police were called at around 1.30 pm on Friday (8 May) after the motorcycle was stolen from a supermarket on Kelham Way, Eastwood.

Officers used the vehicle’s onboard tracker to trace it, and they made their way towards the M1 near Watnall.

Once the team arrived in Common Lane, just 22 minutes after the initial report, they located a vehicle matching the motorbike’s description abandoned.

It was then returned to its owner.

An investigation into the theft remains ongoing.

Inspector John Meanwell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a great bit of work by the officers who managed to recover the bike within 22 minutes of us first receiving the report.

“In this case, the victim had a tracker fitted, and that simple tool made a huge difference in aiding the recovery of the motorbike.

“When owners take preventive steps like this, it gives us vital assistance in those first few moments after a report comes in.

“Whilst we continue to investigate vehicle thefts, I would encourage owners to take whatever steps they can to reduce their risk of falling victim.

“We are still working to identify a suspect in this case, and our investigation into what happened is ongoing.”

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 348 of 8 May.
