‘Emergency services were called around 11.20am today following reports a lorry was alight travelling on the road.
‘Firefighters are currently in attendance, while police have set up a road closure on the A1 southbound near Markham Moor.
‘We would advise motorists to avoid this area while the emergency services continue to respond to this incident.’
