Teenager in hospital after attack in a Nottinghamshire park

Officers are appealing for additional witnesses to come forward after a teenage boy was injured in a Mansfield park.

The 16-year-old victim is being treated in hospital for a serious head injury following an incident in Ladybrook Park in the early hours of Wednesday 17 June.

Another 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses and are now urging anyone who saw or heard what happened to come forward – particularly those who may have footage of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham said:

“The victim in this case suffered a very serious head injury and is currently being treated in hospital.

“As we work to understand exactly what happened and why, we are appealing for everyone with information to come forward.

“We know this incident was witnessed and potentially filmed by multiple people who have yet to speak to us.

“I want them to understand just how serious this incident was and how important it is that they come forward.”
