Eastwood bungalow closed down after ASB and drugs reports

A bungalow in Eastwood has been closed after it became a magnet for drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour.

The address, in South Street, has been monitored by officers for more than a year – with a significant spike in reports over the last few months.

It is believed the address had been taken over by dealers and had become an increasingly important part of the local drug trade after warrants were executed at two addresses in Manor Road.

Over the last few months, officers have been conducting regular patrols in the area and have received multiple calls about drug dealing and antisocial behaviour linked to the address.

A closure order has now been granted by Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, which prohibits anyone from entering the property for a period of three months and allows time for the landlord to re-let it.

The previous tenant has now been removed from the address.

If any individual breaches the order, they will be committing an offence and may be liable to imprisonment and/or a fine.

Sergeant Simon Boyles, of the Eastwood Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“We have been working hard to disrupt the activities of a group of local drug dealers and have executed search warrants at several local addresses.

“We had been watching this address for some time, and it soon became clear to us that a significant portion of the local drug trade had relocated to this property.

“As a result, it had become a magnet for crime and antisocial behaviour and was being frequented by several individuals who are well known to us.

“While our criminal investigations remain ongoing, we have worked with our partners at Broxtowe District Council to take decisive action to protect local residents from harm.”
