Police dog tracks robbery suspect to front garden

A robbery suspect was detained by a police dog after being tracked to the front garden of a house in Broxtowe.

Officers were called shortly after 1am on Sunday 21 June after reports of an attempted robbery in Leen Drive, Bulwell, by three suspects in a car.

The target vehicle then made off at high speed before it was abandoned in Amesbury Circus.

PD Russo was dispatched to search for the occupants and soon discovered a suspect in the front garden of a nearby property.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery, theft, and possessing a knife.

Investigations into what happened are continuing.

Sergeant Nick Dachtler, of Nottinghamshire Police’s dog section, said:

“This was an excellent bit of work by PD Russo and his handler, who were soon able to locate and detain a suspect in the dark.

“Without Russo’s exceptional nose this result may not have been possible.”
