East Midlands Railway announced the incident on Tuesday morning.
EMR said at 5:54 am
’We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Clay Cross and Chesterfield is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/Sheffield and the Norwich/Nottingham/Liverpool Lime Street
Emergency services are en-route to manage the inxident.
‘Trains are unable to run between Nottingham/Chesterfield/Sheffield and between Derby/Chesterfield and Sheffield in both directions.
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 09:00.’
