Police arrest six after machete and drugs found during Arnold car stop

Six suspects were arrested after police seized a machete and drugs during a roadside search of a car.

Operational Support officers were on patrol in the Arnold area on Friday (3 July) at around 10.30 pm when they had reason to pull over a car in Coppice Road.

Six people inside the vehicle were detained while officers carried out searches.

They located wraps of suspected Class A drugs in the centre console.

Cannabis, weighing scales, cash, and a machete were also seized when officers searched the boot.

Two men, aged 25 and 30, a woman aged 35, a boy aged 16, and two 16-year-old girls were all arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 25-year-old man and the boy were also held on suspicion of affray following an earlier incident.

During subsequent searches of a property, officers also found a Taser-style weapon, and the boy was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an electrical incapacitation device.

Detective Sergeant Elina Falcon, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Officers had reason to believe the vehicle could be involved in drug crime, so they pulled it over on Friday night.

“They found a car full of people and, during searches, recovered Class A drugs ready for sale, as well as other signs that the vehicle was being used to deal these substances.

“Officers also seized a machete which had been left on the parcel shelf in the boot. There is never any excuse to be driving around with a weapon of this nature.

“Six arrests were made following the searches, and investigations are ongoing.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 945 of 3 July 2026.
