Nottingham: Eight cars vandalised in city-wide incidents

A suspect has been arrested after a number of cars were damaged in Nottingham.

Officers received reports of car windows being smashed in various areas across the city centre between 28 June and last night (7 July), including Park Terrace, Woolpack Lane, St James’s Street, Postern Street, and Mount Street.

A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening (7 July) in connection with eight incidents, and neighbourhood officers have contacted those affected to keep them updated as the investigation progresses.

Sergeant Cai Kemish, of the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

Vandalism of personal property causes a huge amount of distress to victims, and we have been pursuing all lines of enquiry as part of our investigation into these mindless incidents, which have caused thousands of pounds’ worth of damage.

“At this stage, we are not seeking to arrest anyone else in connection with these offences, but we are keen to hear from anyone who may have information that can assist our investigation.

“This includes anyone who has not yet made a report of damage to their vehicle or property, residents with private CCTV, and motorists with dashcam footage that may be relevant.”

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, remains in custody while enquiries continue.

The arrest comes as Operation Reclaim continues in Nottingham city centre. Launched in May, the operation is a partnership approach to relentlessly targeting criminals who use the city centre to commit crime.
