A man has been jailed after he was discovered tending a large cannabis grow inside a house.
Mecislav Losovski appeared when police forced open the door of the property on Slant Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, on 22 June 2026.
Officers from the Mansfield North Neighbourhood Policing Team attended the semi-detached home after receiving reports that it had been converted to produce the Class B drug.
On arrival at the address, officers were confronted by an overwhelming smell of cannabis and a whirring sound from the equipment used to grow it.
After discovering that 159 cannabis plants were growing in various rooms of the house, Losovski was arrested.
He admitted looking after the crop for others during a police interview and went on to plead guilty at court to producing a Class B drug.
The 30-year-old, of Slant Lane, was jailed for two years at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (21 July).
Police Constable James Lloyd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a significant drug production operation that would have made the people behind it a lot of money.
“Grows like this are a fire hazard for neighbouring homes and act as a magnet for additional criminality, particularly by attracting people tempted to break in and steal the crop.
“We’re grateful for any information from the public that allows us to take positive enforcement action like this and destroy both the plants and the equipment used to grow them.”
