Stoke Lane near Stoke Bardolph has reopened following a collision last night which also closed part of Colwick Loop Road. There are also new bus diversions beginning today in Nottingham city centre and Bingham, while East Midlands Railway passengers continue to face the possibility of short-notice alterations.
Roads – Stoke Bardolph collision
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Stoke Lane near Stoke Bardolph last night. Nottinghamshire Police said at 21:43 that Stoke Lane was closed in both directions, together with a section of Colwick Loop Road, while the incident was dealt with.
Elsewhere, no fresh major incident has been identified in the early checks affecting the M1 through Nottinghamshire, A1, A46 or A52.
Rail – short-notice cancellations remain possible
East Midlands Railway remains affected by RMT action short of strike, which has been running since Sunday 16 August and is currently listed as continuing until further notice. EMR says trains may consequently be altered or cancelled at short notice.
The operator’s separate temporary reduced Intercity timetable also remains in place until further notice, affecting routes between Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby, Lincoln and London St Pancras, as well as some other Intercity journeys.

Buses – two new closures today
Two notable Nottingham City Transport disruptions begin today.
Mount Street in Nottingham city centre is closed today, affecting services 34C and 36.
In Bingham, Long Acre closes from today until Friday 21 August, adding further disruption to service 90. Nottingham Road in Bingham is already closed until 29 August.
Other continuing disruption includes Shakespeare Street until 20 August, affecting the 28, 30, 35, 36, 77, 78 and 79; Edwards Lane until 28 August, affecting the 40A, 87, 88, 89 and 89A; Bramcote Lane until 28 August, affecting the 30; and Nuthall Road until 1 September, affecting the 78 and 79.
Significant roadworks
Overnight works on Gedling Road in Arnold continue until Saturday 22 August, while overnight closures on London Road in Newark remain scheduled until 4 September.
The major works at Lowdham Roundabout are continuing and are expected to last around 13 months, affecting Pathfinder 26.
On the M1, National Highways’ long-running safety-barrier programme between junctions 28 and 30 continues, with overnight restrictions scheduled as part of works running through to March 2027.
