A horse has been brought to safety following a rescue operation involving Nottinghamshire firefighters, an animal rescue specialist, a vet and a local tractor driver.
She was found in the ditch at her field in West Bridgford at lunch time on Monday 17 August
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue attended with crews from West Bridgford, London Road, High Fields and Newark, including their Animal Rescue Team.
Carly Wilford who owns Arna, told The Wire:
‘She is very tired, sore and stiff but relatively unharmed and expected to make a full recovery in the next two weeks.
A special tribute was paid to Mark Carrington, from Newark’s Animal Rescue Team, who remained beside Arna throughout the operation, Carly said he had been “calm and patient” and had looked after the horse brilliantly, adding that Arna was neighing to him following the rescue.
Claudine, a vet from Home Farm Equine, was also thanked for attending the emergency, caring for Arna and helping to clean her afterwards.
The rescue effort also involved a man named Mick and his tractor.
Following the incident, Arna was described as tired and sore but relatively unharmed – and considerably cleaner.
Carly has set up a gofundme page to help with the unexpected vet bill, if you’d like to help the link is below:
