Fans asked to stay away from Nottingham Forest academy entrance in West Bridgford

Nottingham Forest have asked supporters not to gather outside the entrance to the Nigel Doughty Academy or in the surrounding area because of safety concerns.

The club said the number of people gathering there each day had increased, particularly during the summer holidays.

It warned that the crowds, combined with vehicles regularly using the narrow roads, were increasing the risk of someone being seriously injured.

Concerns have been raised by Nottinghamshire Police, club security staff and local residents following reports of children attempting to stop players’ cars and crowds contributing to increased traffic.

A Nottingham Forest spokesperson said: “We recognise how important the strong connection is between fans and our players and coaching staff.

“However, safety must come first, and we ask that all supporters – including parents and guardians of younger fans – adhere to this request.”

The club said it would continue to publicise opportunities for supporters to meet players and coaching staff through its official channels during the season.
