Seven people have been arrested after two e-scooter riders were robbed in Nottingham city centre.
The victims were riding through London Road Island, also known as the BBC Island, at around 9.20pm on Monday (31 August) when they were approached by a group of males.
One rider was pushed from his e-scooter before it was stolen. The group then targeted the second rider and attempted to take his scooter. When he resisted, one of the suspects produced a bladed weapon and threatened to stab him.
The offenders then fled with both e-scooters, leaving the victims shaken but uninjured.
Nottinghamshire Police were called and an immediate search was launched. A short time later, Operational Support officers detained three suspects matching the suspects’ description in the Angel Row area.
Further enquiries led officers to an address in Meredith Close, The Meadows, where four more suspects were arrested. One of the stolen e-scooters was recovered at the property, while the second was later found in Nottingham Canal.
All seven suspects, aged between 16 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody while enquiries continue. One of those arrested, a 16-year-old boy, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article after officers found a machete down his trousers.
