The main disruption today comes from planned works, including the A606 south of Nottingham, Woodborough and The Meadows, while rail passengers continue to face East Midlands Railway’s reduced Intercity timetable.
Roads and motorways
No major new collision or emergency closure has been identified on the M1, A1, A46 or A52 through Nottinghamshirein the early-morning checks.
Drivers should expect the usual build-up on the A52, A453, A610 and Clifton Boulevard as the Friday morning peak develops.
A606 – significant closure south of Nottingham
Drivers travelling between Nottingham and the Keyworth/Plumtree area should be aware of further resurfacing works on the A606 Melton Road between Wheatcroft and Plumtree.
The road is scheduled to close today between 07:30 and 19:00, followed by another overnight closure between 20:00 and 06:00.
Stops at Bentinck Avenue, Melton Road and Plumtree Main Road, together with The Griffin towards Nottingham, will be missed during the closure. Further overnight works are scheduled on Saturday.
Rail – reduced EMR timetable continues
East Midlands Railway remains on its temporary reduced Intercity timetable.
National Rail’s current notice confirms the timetable is operating at around 92% of the full planned Intercity service, following the restoration of several Nottingham and Sheffield trains from 1 September. It remains in place until further notice because of train performance and reliability issues.
RMT action short of a strike also continues, meaning trains can be altered or cancelled at short notice. Further industrial action is scheduled for Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September.
There has also been engineering work overnight between Luton and Bedford and between Leicester and East Midlands Parkway. This morning’s 04:14 Derby to London St Pancras departed Derby seven minutes earlier than usual as part of the final day of those alterations.
An overnight signalling problem south of St Albans which could have affected the Midland Main Line was cleared at 01:03 this morning, with National Rail reporting normal service there.
Trams
The following tram departures are cancelled: 07:15, 09:00 from Hucknall 07:56, 08:26 from Toton 07:56, 08:41 from Phoenix 07:37, 08:37 from Clifton
Buses – Robin Hood Way final day
Today is the scheduled final day of the daytime closure of Robin Hood Way in The Meadows.
Between 09:30 and 15:30, Navy 48 diverts via Meadows Way in both directions. Numerous stops around Robin Hood Way, Bridgeway Centre and the surrounding area are temporarily unserved.
Woodborough – final scheduled day
The resurfacing works at Main Street/Bank Hill in Woodborough are also scheduled to finish today.
Between 09:00 and 15:30, Sky Blue 61 continues to divert via Shelt Hill, the A6097, Moor Lane and Bonner Lane.
Beeston – early 36 diversion
The first Orange 36 from Chilwell has already been affected this morning.
Because of works on High Road and Chilwell Road, the 04:47 journey from Blandford Road diverts via Meadow Lane, Queens Road, Station Road and Middle Street and uses Bay 1 at Beeston Interchange.
The arrangement applies again on Saturday 5 September.
Newark – London Road
The major resurfacing programme on London Road in Newark reaches its final scheduled stage.
The closure affecting Pathfinder 90 is listed as continuing until Saturday 5 September, with buses diverted during the overnight works.
Mansfield – overnight disruption
In Mansfield, Stockwell Gate and Belvedere Street are subject to overnight closures until Sunday 13 September, affecting trentbarton services including the nines and threes.
Stops missed during the works include Mansfield ASDA, Mansfield Community Hospital, Botany Avenue, Moor Lane, Frank Avenue and Hermitage Lane.
Rushcliffe Country Park
Green 10A and 10C remain unable to serve Rushcliffe Country Park because of roadworks.
Buses are turning at Mere Way, with passengers advised to use the Scout Hut stop instead.
Major long-term roadworks
The A6097/Kirk Hill junction scheme at East Bridgford continues, with Kirk Hill and East Bridgford Road remaining closed as part of the approximately year-long construction programme.
Work also continues at Lowdham Roundabout as part of the wider A614/A6097 improvement scheme.
