Passengers travelling from East Midlands Airport have been warned of possible delays because of a technical issue affecting air traffic control services across the UK.

‘Following today’s NATS air traffic control issue, flight disruption is expected to continue for the rest of the day while airlines recover their schedules.

In an update issued at 3.15pm today, Tuesday 8 September, the airport said the problem with National Air Traffic Services (NATS) could delay some departing flights.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest status of their flight directly with their airline.
East Midlands Airport said: “We are aware of an issue affecting NATS’ air traffic control service at UK airports, which may result in delays to some departing flights from East Midlands Airport today.
“Passengers due to travel are advised to check the latest status of their flight with their airline.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and share further updates as more information becomes available.”
NATS said its engineers were investigating the technical issue and apologised for the disruption.
The problem is affecting departures at airports around the country. The extent and likely duration of the disruption have not yet been confirmed.
