A man has been charged after a car struck two pedestrians in Nottingham city centre.
Emergency services were called to Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, at around 2.16am on Monday (September 21), following reports that two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.
Two pedestrians sustained minor injuries in the crash and were both taken to hospital for further checks.
After reviewing CCTV footage, a suspect car was located, and a 31-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident.
William Makkink, aged 31, of Pearman Drive, Nottingham, has since been charged with driving without due care of attention, drink driving, and failing to stop after a road accident.
PC Ryan Prince, of the Nottingham City Centre Response Team, said: “It is extremely lucky that there were no serious injuries as a result of this incident.
“Emergency services were on the scene quickly, and the night’s response team managed to secure an arrest and a charge shortly after the incident.
“Tackling dangerous driving and preventing serious harm on our roads will always be a priority for us, and we will continue to take robust action against those who put others at risk.”
An investigation is ongoing into the incident, with officers asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, or other relevant information, to get in contact via 101 quoting reference 035 of September 21, 2026.
