The main travel issues this morning are continuing severe congestion warnings around Maid Marian Way, a new daytime lane closure on the A52 Derby Road near Queen’s Medical Centre, and several roadworks beginning across Nottinghamshire.
Nottingham City Transport continues to warn of severe delays and short-notice cancellations because of congestion associated with the Broad Marsh demolition works.
In West Bridgford, Gordon Road remains closed, while new temporary traffic lights are scheduled in Tollerton, Gamston and several Rushcliffe villages.
Overnight restrictions also begin in Long Eaton, and further work is scheduled around Clifton Bridge.
Roads and motorways
M1, A1, A46 and A52
No major new collision or emergency closure affecting Nottinghamshire’s strategic road network has been confirmed in the available early reports.
The M1 incident information checked shows no current incident-related motorway closure. However, this does not establish that the entire M1, A1, A46 and A52 network is free of delays or incidents.
The principal confirmed restrictions are planned roadworks.
Motorists can check National Highways live traffic updates and Nottingham Travelwise for developing incidents.
A52 Derby Road – new lane closure from 08:00
A significant new restriction begins this morning on the A52 Derby Road eastbound approaching Queen’s Medical Centre.
National Highways confirms that a lane will close between the University of Nottingham north entrance bus stop UN14 and QMC Roundabout.
The restrictions operate between 08:00 and 17:00 from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 October.
The University North Entrance bus stop will also close while new pedestrian guardrails are installed.
The works form part of the A52 Priory to QMC improvement and cycleway scheme.
Drivers approaching QMC from the west should allow additional time, particularly during the morning and afternoon peaks.
Trentbarton’s i4 service will be unable to use the University North Entrance stop towards Nottingham. Passengers are being directed to alternative stops at Lenton Hall or the QMC main entrance.
A52 Clifton Bridge – overnight restrictions continue
National Highways’ high-mast lighting maintenance programme continues around A52 Clifton Bridge.
From 9 to 13 October, one lane of Queens Drive alongside the Park and Ride site is scheduled to close each night between 20:00 and 06:00.
The restrictions are therefore scheduled to return tonight.
The earlier closures affecting the A453 northbound-to-A52 westbound link and Queens Drive Flyover have passed their advertised dates and should not be treated as continuing without a new notice.
A52 Wheatcroft – lane restrictions remain
Lane restrictions continue around the A52/A606 Wheatcroft junction.
Current roadworks information lists restrictions on the eastbound A52 between the A606 and A6011, together with restrictions around the westbound roundabout.
The latest listed completion date for this phase is Friday 16 October.
The works are associated with preparations for the Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft junction improvement programme.
M1 – overnight lane closures planned
National Highways-derived roadworks information lists further M1 restrictions for tonight.
These include lane closures on the M1 southbound at junction 27 near Sutton-in-Ashfield, scheduled between 19:00 and 05:00.
There are also planned northbound lane restrictions between junctions 24A and 25, covering the East Midlands Airport and Long Eaton approaches, during the same overnight period.
These are scheduled restrictions rather than confirmed closures currently affecting the morning commute.
Maid Marian Way – severe congestion warning continues
The demolition of the former Broad Marsh NCP car park remains the principal source of continuing disruption in Nottingham city centre.
Traffic is operating through the temporary contraflow on Maid Marian Way, with restricted capacity and temporary traffic signals. The operator continues to warn that all services are experiencing severe delays and short-notice cancellations.
This is an ongoing network warning rather than confirmation of a particular delay on every service at 06:05.

NCT’s temporary city-centre stopping arrangements remain in operation.
Orange 34/C services travel from Canning Circus along Talbot Street to Nottingham Trent University City Campus before terminating on Milton Street alongside Victoria Centre.

National Rail’s latest detailed notice, updated on 5 October, says the reduced timetable remains in place until further notice.
Cancelled weekday services have been removed from journey planners through Friday 16 October.
The changes are intended to improve reliability while EMR addresses train performance issues. National Rail
More Nottingham–London trains return next week
EMR plans to increase its Intercity operation from 92% to 96% of the full planned timetable from Monday 19 October.
For Nottingham, this includes reinstating the 13:50 and 18:10 departures to London St Pancras.
Services from London St Pancras to Nottingham scheduled for reinstatement include departures at 11:35, 16:05 and 20:35.
Passengers travelling today should continue to check individual departures because the reduced timetable remains in operation this week. National Rail
National Rail – EMR reduced timetable information
The live National Rail disruption feed could not be independently verified for every Nottinghamshire route at 06:05, so the absence of a confirmed incident should not be treated as a guarantee of normal service.
