Almost five tonnes of concrete has been transported from the Parliament Street entrance to South Square, where the clock will be reinstated near John Lewis and Boots.
The pond is expected to be completed by Christmas, allowing reassembly of the clock to begin shortly afterwards.
Victoria Centre is working towards a return close to the anniversary of the clock’s original installation on 20 February 1973.
Shoppers can see parts of the project, including the pond frame and bowl, through viewing windows around the work area.
Nottingham-based Omega Construction and Ilkeston-based FC Laser are involved in the project, alongside Emett Clock restorer Pete Dexter, who is overseeing its refurbishment and reassembly.
Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said: “We know how much the Emett Clock means to people in Nottingham, and it is fantastic to be able to share this visible progress with customers.
“From the work taking place to create its new home to the careful restoration being led by Pete Dexter, there is a huge amount of skill and care going into the Clock’s return. We are pleased to be working with specialist local partners and look forward to sharing further updates as the project continues.”
