Nottinghamshire weather Monday: Heavy morning rain before a milder and increasingly windy afternoon

Nottinghamshire is forecast a wet start to Monday 26 October before conditions improve during the afternoon, following a weekend of disruption caused by Storm Boelo.

Strong winds on Sunday led to problems across the county, including power cuts, fallen trees and the precautionary closure of several major parks and attractions.

The Met Office wind warning covering Sunday expires at 9pm, and there are no weather warnings currently in force for Nottinghamshire on Monday.

The East Midlands forecast says rain will move northeast during Monday morning before clearing by mid-afternoon. Conditions should then remain dry but cloudy, although winds will strengthen again later. The regional maximum temperature is forecast to reach around 15C.

Monday starts cloudy and relatively calm compared with Sunday, with temperatures around 8C at 6am.

The chance of rain is around 20% at 6am, increasing sharply to 50% at 7am and 80% by 8am.

Rain becomes increasingly likely through the morning, with a 90% chance at 9am and at least a 95% chance at 10am, 11am and midday.

The Met Office says the rain should have cleared northeastwards by mid-afternoon, leaving a mainly dry but cloudy remainder of the day.

Monday evening is expected to remain dry, but the wind will become increasingly noticeable again.

The chance of rain stays below 5% throughout most of the evening.

Temperatures fall slowly from around 16C at 4pm and 5pm to 15C during much of the evening, remaining around 16C at 11pm.

South-southwesterly winds strengthen from around 9mph during the late afternoon to 11mph at 7pm and 8pm, reaching around 13mph by 9pm onwards.
