The A46 between the B1190 and the B1378 near Lincoln is closed in both directions due to a severe collision.
Lincolnshire Police currently lead the response to a serious collision which was first reported to National Highways at 15:15. Due to the nature of this incident, the carriageway has been closed in both directions. We are currently unable to advise when the road is likely to re-open.
National Highways have resources in attendance to assist with traffic management. Traffic within the closure will be released as soon as possible and we are working with Lincolnshire Police to release traffic as a priority.
Diversion Routes
Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the below diversion.
- From the A46 Doddington Island, take the exit onto the B1190 heading south-east for 2.6km.
- At the signalised junction with the B1003, turn left heading north.
- At the next signalised junction with the B1378, turn left in a north-westerly direction until it re-joins the A46 at Skellingthorpe Island.
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the below diversion.
- From the A46 Carholme Island, take the exit onto the A57 south-east towards Lincoln.
- At the signalised junction with the B1003, turn right heading south-west, continuing on the B1003 until it joins the A1434.
- Follow the A1434 until it re-joins the A46 at Hykeham Island.
