Updated: A52 West Bridgford reopens this evening after car fire

The A52 remains closed this evening after the earlier collision.

The road reopened at 9 pm

Highways England updated at 7:30 pm:

‘The A52 remains closed between A606 and A6011 due to a car fire, diversion routes are in place.

‘Please allow extra time if you plan to use this route.’

Police confirmed earlier that a man has suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision this afternoon.

They issued a statement below:

A man suffered life-threatening injuries following a serious collision along the A52 this afternoon.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the Gamston Lings Bar stretch at 2.45pm and found a car on fire.

It is believed the vehicle had been involved in a collision with another car before bursting into flames.

The road remains closed in both directions and officers are now investigating the incident.

A man was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 462 of 2 July.
