Amazon and eBay parcels stolen from Nottingham student accommodation

On each occasion, CCTV showed a burglar enter the property via an open fire exit and steal parcels.

Police investigating the thefts of Amazon and eBay parcels from a student complex have made an arrest.

The accommodation, in Talbot Street, in Nottingham city centre, was targeted twice on August 26 and once on September 7.

Enquiries by the City Centre Neighbourhood Team has now led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man on suspicion of all three burglaries.

The man was arrested in Shakespeare Street at 7.30am yesterday (13 October).

He was further arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a search of his flat led to the discovery of two bags of white powder, suspected to be class B amphetamine.

Sergeant Graham Whitt, from the City Centre Neighbourhood Team, said: “This arrest follows a determined investigation into a series of burglaries whereby a number of parcels were stolen from the same student accommodation.

“Our officers did a fantastic job in identifying and tracking down a suspect and then discovering large quantities of a white powder suspected to be amphetamine.

“Burglary and drug-related crime has a significant impact on the people who live in our community and we are committed to tackling it head on.

“Nottinghamshire Police takes these types of offences seriously and will always strive to put suspects before the courts.

“We will now be working with the force’s Prisoner Handling Team to take the case forward.”
