Annie’s Burger Shack closes Nottingham city restaurant for good

A letter sent to staff informed them of the news.

The letter, sent from Worcesterabs Ltd – a business name changed in July 2024 from Worcester Annie’s Burger Shack Ltd which was launched in 2018 – according to Companies House said: “I regret to advise you that the Board of Directors has concluded that the Company is not in a position to continue trading and steps are being taken to place the Company into liquidation on 1 November 2024. In the meantime, it is necessary to bring the trading activities of the Company to an immediate close.

“As a consequence, the Company, as your employer, is no longer in a position to make payments for the services rendered by you under your contract of employment. You should therefore regard your employment as terminated for reasons of redundancy.”

According to Companies House the business is late in filing its Confirmation Statement which was due in July 2024.

The restaurant has been in Nottingham city centre since 2014.

Around 20 jobs are affected by the closure.

The premises are up for commercial rent for £65,000 per annum.

A summary of recent reviews on Tripadvisor states:

‘Annie’s Burger Shack has garnered mixed reviews, with many guests expressing disappointment in the food, highlighting issues with portion sizes, flavour, and temperature. While the atmosphere is occasionally described as fun and inviting, other reviewers find it lackluster and in need of refreshment.

‘Additionally, visitors have called out frustratingly long wait times for seating and service, which, coupled with a perceived drop in value due to smaller, underwhelming burgers, has left many questioning the overall worth of their visit.’
